Ginge of the Week: GRACE CODDINGTON!

Who is more deserving of the Ginger crown than the iconic fashion goddess Grace Coddington!?
Gracing a magazine cover for the first time in a long time on this weeks ID Magazine Grace shows us exactly what she's made of!

As Anna Wintour's right hand lady, she is certainly one of the most iconic Queens of the fashion industry. A natural redhead, she has kept to that glowing shade of auburn which gave her a unique edge back in her original modelling days. To get a better insight into her successful career journey, I highly recommend reading Grace's memoirs which has just recently been released. I've been reading recently, which also lead me to watching The September Issue(again!). If you haven't read her book as yet, I'm sure you will love it as much as I do. At 71 years young, she really is an inspiration and after watching her in action again, I think she lives up to her name. MX

My September Issue

I love the change of season and one of my favorite things about September is that it always feels like a new beginning. In the fashion world, the September issues of all my favorite magazines are jam packed with inspiration. What's not to love about September? If you live in the Northern hemisphere, we are heading into the pretty Autumn season, or if I wanna get all American on you, it's 'fall'. Meanwhile back on home turf, in Australia, it marks the beginning of Spring (I'm not sure why Australia s seem to complain so much about winter- try living in London and get back to me!!)

Anyway, after having my longest Summer in almost a decade- (I haven't worn a jacket since April!!) I am so excited about dressing for a cooler climate once again. Yes this little English rose had a hard time accepting the Summer heat. Trust me New York has a climate that in Summer borders on tropical, with humidity levels that can be stifling. Now it seems to have cooled down a touch and the blue skies are still around.

Hot to Trot

Having spent the past decade in London, plus only a month or 3 in Australia during Summer. It's safe to say I've had a hard time dealing with the intense New York Summer. Which at times, can border on tropical in climate- who would of thought!? New York is renowned for an extreme climate, but I thought it related to a harsh winter, full of snow blizzards etc! I had no idea their Summers were, well real summers

Now this brings up a hole world of beauty problems. Relocation throws your complexion into chaos! I think it took at least a month for my skin to adjust to the water, which has meant that I need to treat it very delicately indeed. My skin was reacting to everything and anything- it even reacted to the old faithful for sensitive skin- Cetaphil! So right now all I can use is Avene, Gentle Milk Cleanser and Moisturiser. I often turn to this range when my skin gets hyper-sensitive at times as its super gentle, fragrance free and nourishing.

Let's not even get me started on my hair these days! But that;s another story....

Today being the 4th of July, we have a holiday from work and it's all about enjoying the sunshine before watching the annual fireworks spectacular in the city. In celebration of America's independence from the Brits. Let's not mention that I spent the past decade in London today, ok?

Today, the sun is shining and we are in for a scorcher, don't forget to wear sunscreen....

Stay cool, stay beautiful!

Vogue Italia Online: Irina Lazareanu

A little while back, following on from the Vogue Italia, Young Talent Event at LFW I worked on, I had the pleasure of working with Vogue Italia Online doing the makeup for a video featuring model Irina Lazareanu.

In keeping with Irina's rock chick reputation, we went for a smudged, smoky eye and minimal lip colour.  Plenty on MAC Smoulder eye pencil was used and blended in with a soft blending brush.

It was a fun day, shooting on location all around London, actually great to revisit parts of London I had almost forgotten about! This was definitely a milestone for me as Vogue Italia is one of my favourite publications of all time...

Check it out here:

Hope you like it!

Summer Lovin!

Mulberry's SS 2012 campaign by Tim Walker, starring Lindsay Wixson and Frida Gustavsson captures the Summer vibe amongst a colour palette of gelato hues.

This delicate colour palette can easily translate into hair colour and is a great way to update a blonde or dip dye look in time for Summer!

An Inspirational Icon- Vidal Sassoon

Today we learnt of the sad news that hairdressing's most famous icon, the legendary
Vidal Sassoon
has passed away.

Of course his amazing legacy will live on forever as he really did revolutionize our industry. I know personally for me, especially after having the privilege of working closely with the Sassoon team and absorbing the culture he created, he did for hair & fashion what Apple has done for technology. The industry would not be what it is today without him and I am grateful for the influence he has had on my career.

RIP Mr Sassoon

Fox in the City

- My first day in NYC, hanging out with my sis at one of the best places in the East Village to grab a coffee- Mudd!

It all seems a little surreal right now, maybe that's nerves mixed with jet lag?! But trust me it's a big job coordinating a trans-Atlantic move and USA isn't the easiest of countries to up and move to!
